Dr. J.W. DeCoursey

Dr. John W. DeCoursey is a native of Oaktown, Indiana, and graduated from North Knox High School. He then attended Vincennes University and received an A.S. degree in pre-optometry. Dr. DeCoursey continued his education at Indiana University and received a B.S. degree in history. He then returned to Vincennes University and received an RN degree. After working as an RN, Dr. DeCoursey attended Indiana University and attained his Doctorate of Optometry in 2009. Dr. DeCoursey completed his external clinical experience at Indianapolis Eye Care Center, the School of Optometry Clinics in Bloomington, Indiana, Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, and Eye Care Consultants in Evansville, Indiana.

Prior to becoming an optometrist, Dr. DeCoursey worked as a historic interpreter at the Vincennes State Historic Sites and as an RN in intermediate and intensive care at Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. DeCoursey and his wife, Deanna, live in Bicknell, Indiana, with their two sons Jonathan and Dylan. In his free time, Dr. DeCoursey enjoys hunting for Indian artifacts, target shooting, reading, IU sports, soccer games and traveling with family.
